I spent over 20 minutes trying to kill Zango. I noticed that he did save damage in between visits (or he at least saved "phases" because he kept running after revisiting him). He is objectively the strongest and healthiest enemy we've encountered so far.
I've also made up my mind. I have to do the Mister Mushroom ending.
